The importance of corporate prayer cannot be understated. It was on the back of corporate prayer that the New Testament church started to burn a trail through the world on the day of Pentecost. It was on the back of corporate prayer that the church faced her enemies. It was on the back of corporate prayer that God preserved the life of Peter from the wicked intent of Herod.
To neglect this practice is to neglect Christian duty. Yes we have to pray alone, and yes we must pray with our families, but we also must pray as a corporate body of believers.
